RodGeeks Snap Jig Rod

While the uninitiated may think the exaggerated rod action looks silly, snap jigging has proven to be a fun and effective method for catching a variety of fresh and saltwater species. Pioneered by Capt. John Paduano of Premium Charters/Premium Bucktails decades ago, snap jigging uses very quick, sharp jerks of the rod to move the jig quickly through the water column, making it look like a baitfish fleeing from a predator.

This build starts with a beautiful, purple metallic RODgeeks C2 blank and features wave burl grips and a polished Fuji reel seat. The guides are Fuji's new black titanium K frames, which feature a silicon carbide ring and weigh roughly half that of the standard steel version. The overall weight of this rod comes in at just over 5oz (even with a full handle), and with a 2500 Shimano Stradic CI4 filled with 10lb test, the complete combo comes in at 12oz. Don't be deceived by the weight and size, this rod has triple digit tarpon under it's belt!

Our Snap Jig rods come in two models; standard (rated up to 1.5oz) and heavy (up to 2oz). Both are 6ft overall and based off of a RODgeeks C2 graphite blank, which are offered in over 30 color patterns, including two tone. Custom snap jigging rods start at $275 and feature Fuji Alconite K guides, Fuji reel seat, premium cork handle, and a clear gloss blank. (Painted blank versions start at $285).
