Mark contacted me over the winter to build a pair of trolling rods for targeting Marlin, Tuna, Wahoo, and other pelagic species off the Bahamas. After seeing some previous work of mine, we put together a truly unique pair of trolling rods that function beautifully and offer the cosmetic touches Mark wanted to incorporate.
These custom trolling rods start off on Seeker 6455XXH blanks, trimmed to an overall length of 5’6” and painted in a custom pearl finish. Premium grade cork fore grips give the rods a classic yet timeless look to them. Winthrop Adjusta-Butts and Winthrop Heavy Duty Xpress rollers offer the very best in “form and function” when it comes to custom fishing tackle. These super strong, lightweight butts have the benefit of going from a straight butt to a bent butt with the push of a button and without having to remove the reel. The guides feature machined one-piece frames and heavy-duty rollers that allow for exceptional knot clearance and minimal friction. The guide wraps are done in a white, tan, an sea foam color scheme to match the boat, "Knock Softly".
